Amanda Taylor Scholarship Fund Awards

A scholarship fund was set up in 2023 for students residing in the Yukon to assist them with their post-secondary education. The Fund was set up to honour Amanda Taylor and her passion for living and working in the Yukon after graduating in 2015 with a Master of Planning degree from Dalhousie University.

Your donations along with regular grants from the family will allow future generations of Yukoners to continue to flourish with their post-secondary education.

2025 Scholarships

There were three recipients for the 2025 Amanda Taylor Scholarship Fund and their notes of gratitude after receiving the award are included below:

Ava Jampolsky

I am entering my fourth year of studies in Geography and Environmental Studies. This fall term I have decided to add a little adventure to my learning and go on exchange to Scotland. In the spring I will be returning to the University of Victoria to complete my degree. As an environmentalist and someone who thrives in the outdoors, I am incredibly grateful to be receiving the Amanda Taylor Scholarship Fund. Amanda’s ability to leave a legacy in the form of continued education for young Yukoners is truly something special and I feel immensely appreciative to have been selected as the scholarship recipient this year. Thank you for taking the time to allow students such as myself to continue to attend university and grow as people.

Bruce Porter

Thank you for this generous funding to help me on my post-secondary journey! I’m going into my third year of studies this fall and will put the funds towards educational costs. This includes the costs associated with the exchange semester I will be doing in Malta from February to June. I believe that this experience abroad will help broaden my perspectives and give me inspiration. I am committed to learning about ways to build more sustainable communities with a robust social fabric. This funding will help me continue to bring the values of the donors into all that I do and create a lasting legacy.

I am honored to have been chosen as a recipient of the Amanda Taylor Memorial Award and sincerely thank you for your generosity. I am pursuing a degree in Geography with a focus in GIS at the University of Victoria, where a huge part of my studies focuses on environmental issues and the relationships between people and the land. This scholarship not only helps me manage the financial challenges of post-secondary education but also motivates me to continue working hard toward my academic and professional goals. Amanda’s legacy of community involvement, environmental passion, and commitment to making a difference is very inspiring to me, and I hope to reflect those same qualities in my own path. Thank you for supporting students like me in pursuing education and providing opportunities to create a positive impact.

As a note, the scholarship amounts are based on the annual interest earned from the principal within the Scholarship Fund. Any further donations mean that the scholarship amounts will continue to grow!
