RUSS TAYLOR: BIO
Russ Taylor is a global wood business and market consultant with over 45 years experience. Russ Taylor Global – Wood Business & Market Consulting is a continuation of the strategic work that Russ has always been doing with industry clients throughout his career. He started off as a registered professional forester and has worked in forestry (Northwood) in the 1970s and also lumber sales, custom cutting and remanufacturing (Interfor) in the 1980s.
After working as a wood business and market consultant for Widman Management and Sandwell in the late eighties to early nineties, Russ started his consulting company, R.E. Taylor & Associates Ltd. in 1992. The consulting business and team expanded, and various publications were initiated, including WOOD Markets Monthly International Report. By 2005, the company was rebranded as International WOOD MARKETS Group and this included eight strategic market intelligence and forecast reports on the global wood products industry and markets.
In 2003, a China conference series was started and in 2011, an annual global conference series in Vancouver was added. The company was sold in mid-2017 and Russ worked with FEA for three years as part of the sale agreement.
Russ conducts wood products marketing analysis and business assessment/ competitiveness projects for numerous global industry clients and across North America. He has travelled extensively and conducts research and analysis in many dynamic global regions, including Russia, China, Asia, and throughout the Southern Hemisphere and Europe. Russ is known for his strategic insights and outlooks in global markets.
Russ has published hundreds of articles and strategic reports and has conducted over 300 presentations at conferences and client meetings.
Russ has a forestry degree (BScF) and an MBA, both from the University of B.C., and is also a B.C. registered professional forester (RPF-Ret).
